Cervical Cancer Screening
Cervical cancer screening, is an important tool to detect abnormal tissue of the cervix which may require cryotherapy for removal.
Approximately 34% of women achieve immunity to abnormal cells of the cervix within 9-18 months. Once this immunity is achieved, then they cannot be reinfected, nor transmit this particular strain. However since they carry the virus, they are still susceptible to other strains.

Testing for cancerous cells of the cervix is done through a Pap smear. It is important to have your annual exam to detect any symptoms of future cancerous tissue or cells. Early detection is key.
