Epidemiology Of Cervical Cancer
Epidemiology of cervical cancer rates show that HPV caused cervical cancer is on a decline and is detected earlier since the Pap smear was introduced.
A vaccine against the HPV virus is in the works, and is said to become avilable in 5 years. Even then, the vaccine will only prevent HPV infection in young women whom have not yet been exposed to the virus, or have not been sexually active.

The cases of dysplasia of the cervix have now progressed to epidemic proportions worldwide. An estimated 70% of the sexually active population will be or has been diagnosed with an abnormal pap test, and 80% of those tested positive for the HPV virus.
