Invasive Cervical Cancer
Invasive cervical cancer may be avoided if a pap smear is routinely taken to detect early HPV cellular damage.
Proper annual pap screenings are recommended to keep abnormal cell growth of the cervix in check. Women are expected to get annual pap smears and or pelvic exams to check for abnormal cell growth, dysplasia of the cervix, or carcinoma in situ.

Invasive Cervical Cancer -

The most common forms of cancerous cells of the cervix are carcinoma in situ, or benign carcinomas. It is expected, however, that approximately 12,200 women will be diagnosed with cancerous cells on the cervix that are benign, in other words they are not life threatening. Invasive cervical cancer may be avoided if a pap smear is routinely taken to detect early HPV cellular damage.
