Colocoscopy




A colocoscopy (colposcopy)will sometimes be performed if the genital or penile wart virus (Human Papillomavirus)is suspected. If the abnormal area is rather small, it can be removed by a biopsy. The procedure is very simple and has no side effects, it doesn’t affect the ability to have children. For several days after the procedure it is normal to have a dark discharge and light discomfort. A colocoscopy (colposcopy)will sometimes be performed if the genital or penile wart virus (Human Papillomavirus)is suspected.

This procedure allows to find the cause for the abnormal Pap smear and remove it if possible. Before the procedure you should not douche or have sexual intercourse for 24 hours. The doctor will look at your cervix with a help of a special instrument, called a colposcope. A colocoscopy (colposcopy)will sometimes be performed if the genital or penile wart virus (Human Papillomavirus)is suspected.
