Colposcopy Pictures
When performing a colposcopy, pictures are taken of the cervix when a pap smear results indicates possibly a venereal wart virus present.
To visualize the surface of the cervix a large electronic microscope with a bright light, called colposcope, is used. Abnormal tissues are seen as white and no light passes through them. The procedure is relatively simple and takes about 15-20 minutes.
