Colposcopy Biopsy
A colposcopy biopsy for an abnormal pap smear test will usually involve surgical removal as well with cryotherapy and will sometimes result in some spotting or vaginal discharge.
When a doctor uses a colposcope to view the abnormal areas on the cervix after finding an abnormal pap smear, they also take tissue samples to be sent to a lab and further examined to better determine the stage of dysplasia found.
A colposcopy biopsy for an abnormal pap smear test will usually involve surgical removal as well with cryotherapy and will sometimes result in some spotting or vaginal discharge.

Tissue samples are obtained using a large needle or small forceps. If there are no obvious white areas, then blind or random samples will be taken. When using a colposcope, with a vinegar solution on the cervix, abnormal areas appear white and are from where tissue samples are taken. A colposcopy biopsy for an abnormal pap smear test will usually involve surgical removal as well with cryotherapy and will sometimes result in some spotting or vaginal discharge.
