Leep Excision
A leep excision procedure is performed to remove abnormalities shown by a pap smear; it may be a vaginal wart, cervical dysplasia or other HPV-related disorders.
The loop removes the abnormal tissues from the surface of the cervix. It is performed in a physician’s office with a thin wire loop carrying an electrical current and takes about a half an hour. This procedure treats cervical dysplasia of moderate and severe forms.

The patient should not have sexual intercourse, use tampons, take tub baths, douche and lift heavy objects as long as the doctor recommends. Mild complications including pain, discomfort, discharge or bleeding may occur for several days after the procedure. A leep excision procedure is performed to remove abnormalities shown by a pap smear; it may be a vaginal wart, cervical dysplasia or other HPV-related disorders.
