Leepsurgery
A leepsurgery or a leep procedure is performed on a cervical area to remove abnormal tissues.
The operation is performed with either local or general anesthetic and cause slight discomfort and pain afterwards. It is performed with a thin metal wire heated by an electric current. This procedure is also called LLETZ (large loop excision of the transformation zone).

There is a small risk of infections and other complications. As abnormal cells are not destroyed, they can be examined in the lab to determine their nature. Usually, this procedure is used to treat moderate or severe cervical dyspalsia (CIN 2 or CIN 3). A leepsurgery or a leep procedure is performed on a cervical area to remove abnormal tissues.
