Pap Smear Test
A pap smear test doesn't detect vaginitis and other disorders; abnormal results require a colposcopy exam before prescribing a leep procedure or other treatment.
If an anomaly is discovered, a physician will make further recommendations based on risk assessment, and cytology classification of the reading. Using a swab, cells are scraped from the cervix and inspected under a microscope to identify any disease or other genital disorders.

Vaginitis, LEEP Procedure
In cases of higher-grade results, a colposcopy or cervical biopsy usually follows. Generally, loose abnormal cells may not be readily available for examination because they were removed during the initial visit. Typically, in mild or localized dysplasia cases, a follow-up visit is advised following not less than two weeks.
