Cervical Dysplasia




Cervical dysplasia or vaginosis can be detected from a pap smear. Researchers have found only one proven cause for these abnormal cells, which is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). A Pap smear is used as a screening tool for the abnormal cells. This is a condition of the female cervix where normal cells change in structure to become abnormal or dysplastic cells. Cervical dysplasia or vaginosis can be detected from a pap smear.

The abnormal cells are treated through surgical procedures offered by a gynecologist or HPV can be cleared through your immune system. These abnormal cells, if left untreated, may develop into cancer of the cervix, but only in a low percentage of cases. This situation consists of three grades mild, moderate, and severe. Cervical dysplasia or vaginosis can be detected from a pap smear.
