Cervical Dilation
Cervical dilation may be performed to access more interiorly affected tissues for a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy.
The procedure can be performed in the office with or without anesthesia. After it complications are possible: bleeding or (in rare cases) perforation of the uterus. In general, it is a very safe procedure and has been performed for many years.

LEEP Procedure, Cryotherapy
"D&C" is conducted if a Pap smear test doesn't clearly indicate whether abnormalities are caused by a problem in the cervix or in the endometrium. During the procedure the physician enlarges the cervix and scrapes the inside of the uterus to remove tissue for analysis. Cervical dilation may be performed to access more interiorly affected tissues for a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy.
