Tubal infections can result in cervical pregnancy from untreated migrating infections such as those that cause cervical dysplasia (HPV for example).

When the fertilized egg implants in tissue outside the uterus and the fetus begins to develop there, this condition occurs. This may be caused by blockages or slow passage of a fertilized egg through the Fallopian tube to the uterus, which are the results of previous tubal infection.
