Leap Cone Biopsy




Treatments for cervical dysplasia may include the LEEP or leap, cone biopsy or cryotherapy are performed with an ASCUS reading from a pap smear test. The procedure is used both for diagnosis and treatment. To remove the tissue a doctor may use either laser or loop electrosurgical excision (LEEP); sometimes a surgical knife is used. Some vaginal bleeding and discomfort is possible for up to 1 week. Treatments for cervical dysplasia may include the LEEP or leap, cone biopsy or cryotherapy are performed with an ASCUS reading from a pap smear test.

It is a procedure for removing a piece of tissue to be examined under a microscope. During the operation a cone-shaped wedge of tissue is removed from the cervix to get rid of the abnormal tissue that is high in the cervix. Treatments for cervical dysplasia may include the LEEP or leap, cone biopsy or cryotherapy are performed with an ASCUS reading from a pap smear test.
