When diagnosed with a precancerous cervix tissue, HPV is usually detected and is known to cause cervical dysplasia. Moderate and severe dysplasia are very likely to lead to cervical cancer, if not treated in time. Smoking, poor nutrition, infections with human immunodefiency virus and other infections, having multiple sexual partners and starting sexual intercourse early increase the risk. When diagnosed with a precancerous cervix tissue, HPV is usually detected and is known to cause cervical dysplasia.
