A vaginal lesion may be diagnosed with a cone biopsy and may be revealed as human papillomavirus. High-grade changes are often precancerous and should be treated immediately. A colposcopy exam determines the location and the nature of the problem. There are several methods for curing such conditions, but they are effective only if the disease hasn’t passed to advanced stages. LSIL and HSIL mean changes in the size and shape of squamous intraepithelial cells, which form the surface of the cervix.
